All the decision-makers at the table: Statuo Group’s vision for design-led development

It has been almost a year since we launched Statuo Group, and as our business continues to grow and deliver new projects, we want to take the opportunity to reflect on the power of purpose and intent when actively integrated throughout the entire design, development, and construction process.

Today Statuo Group is a 30-strong team of in-house experts representing architecture, interior design, development, and construction – all under one roof. Our approach creates seamless collaboration across disciplines, a unified team taking a project from concept to completion through clear and connected communication.

When we rebranded to Statuo Group, it was with the purpose of establishing an end-to-end process of designing, developing and delivering exceptional built environments in an integrated and collaborative manner: a process in which all parties are heard, understood, and equally invested in delivering successful outcomes that reflect the original design intent.

At Statuo Group we consider ourselves problem-solvers first. We have embedded a value system into every arm of our business: we value Curiosity for its ability to fuel an always-learning approach; Contemporary thinking that leads rather than follows; Collaboration within our office, across site and with peers and consultants; and a Considerate approach that ensures every voice is heard.

Grounded in our values, diverse expertise and shared vision, we are dissolving the divisions between Design, Development and Construction.

To contribute to the housing conversation, we created a lifestyle-led residential concept for Perth’s inner-city market. It served as a case study on how design can address three urgent challenges: the shortage of quality homes, the need for greater affordability, and the importance of fostering connected, inclusive communities. Through amenity-rich living, refined architecture and construction, and a design that wove the streetscape into the building, the project demonstrated how design-led development can help reimagine housing in our urban centres.

Drawing on our global design knowledge and expertise, our proposed residential development set out to foster a strong sense of community and connectivity, offering a suite of amenities designed to enrich daily life and nurture personal wellbeing.

Through highly resolved architecture and construction, the building wove elements of the streetscape into its design to strengthen bonds between residents and the local community. This process clearly demonstrated for us, the value of having all key decision-makers – design, cost, and constructability – at the table from the outset. That integration created a smoother, more efficient process, enabling design outcomes to be achieved more effectively through real-time, collaborative decision-making.

This process of ideation clearly demonstrated the value of having all key decision-makers – design, cost, and constructability at the table from the outset. That integration created a smoother, more efficient process, with real-time collaboration enabling better outcomes to be achieved faster and with greater certainty.

Yes, the approach is unusual for our industry. But the positive feedback from our clients couldn’t be clearer. They appreciate the clarity and transparency Statuo Group brings: the ability to provide certainty on costs, approvals, and timelines. Further still, our integrated offer is another option on the table. Our strength lies in flexibility – if integration isn’t the right path, we deliver as the architect in collaboration with a trusted builder.

We look forward to sharing more as we continue to redefine design-led development. If you’d like to explore how this approach could shape your next project, we’d love to talk.
